The A&CN is pleased to be working jointly with CDP Architects Glasgow and associated contractors in the design and development of the African Caribbean Centre for Cultural Resources and Social Enterprise (the African Caribbean Centre or ACC) at the 66/68 Osborne Street premises in the Merchant City.

The A&CN has also appointed a volunteer group from within the African & Caribbean communities of building surveyors, health and safety risk management; financial accounting and civil engineering students to a Project Planning and Development Team (PPDT) to work alongside CDP professionals.

The A&CN Project Planning and Development Team of Osman Ali (Convener), Ibrahim Omar Sharif, Gilda Mfulu, Giresse Mfulu, Tharun Kumar and Aaron Ankrah - will work for the next year gaining experience in the development of a unique Scottish African project.

The A&CN's PPDT will work closely with Mr David Watson of CDP who is the lead designer - David's designs here are currently being considered by Glasgow City Council's Planning Department. An application for shopfront development funds is also pending with the Townscape Heritage Initiative of the Merchant City Trust to restore Osborne Street frontage to its original historic condition.

We thank our sponsors the Big Lottery whose Investment in Ideas funding of £9,750 over the last year has supported this initial development work.-  Network Development Coordinator Graham Campbell"
